MBD for ANSYS Motion Analysis

Study Motion in ANSYS® with Multi-Body Dynamics software tightly integrated into ANSYS® Workbench™

Motion Analysis using MBD for ANSYS (Multi-Body Dynamics for ANSYS) - an add-on module for ANSYS that is used to simulate the transient behavior of a mechanical assembly in motion and is developed by FunctionBay, Inc.

MBD for ANSYS offers powerful Multi-Body Dynamic (MBD) analysis capabilities within the ANSYS Workbench environment. This allows ANSYS users to simulate the motion and all of the related physics of mechanical assemblies, enabling them to understand the behavior of their assemblies up-front and to generate the loads needed for component-level FEA. MBD for ANSYS also serves as a bridge to advanced MBD capabilities, by allowing the user to export models to the standalone RecurDyn software.

ANSYS Motion for Robotics

Since Multi-Body Dynamics mainly utilizes rigid bodies, the calculation time is usually much shorter than the corresponding transient structural analysis using flexible bodies. Consequently it is an efficient approach to understand the overall dynamic behavior and generate boundary conditions for structural analysis.

Multi-Body Dynamics is mainly used for the study of motion

The calculation of loads (at joints, contacts and where forces are applied) that can be used for component-level structural analysis.ANSYS Motion Analysis for Automotive
